RENOVATIONS at Mortlake College have begun this week with the installation of new module classrooms.
College principal Danny Forrest said the school was adding approximately $1.25 million in upgrades.
“The build includes the removal of our old 1980s portables and our primary toilet block which very outdated,” he said.
“At the new building we’re receiving three new module classrooms with all the modern facilities and a full sized primary toilet block for boys, girls and disabled toilets.”
Mr Forrest said the upgrades connect to other blocks via new decking and wheelchair ramps to ensure student access.
“The upgrades have also included the removal of a lot of asbestos from around the school as well,” he said.
“It has been quite a substantial build.”
Mr Forrest said by the end of 2020 Mortlake College would have $3 million worth of building works being completed.
“We’re all pretty excited about the future and look forward to starting the new year in the new building which be used for our prep grade one and two students,” he said.
Mr Forrest anticipated the works will be completed by early December.
“It’s all very exciting,” he said.
