Mortlake heads to grand final
MORTLAKE’S bowlers are gearing up for some grand final action following success at the recent semi-finals.
Mortlake Purple (div 3) def Lawn Tennis Blue 43-41 at Warrnambool Bowls Club.
A van Diemen def G Bartlett 25-20 and V Smith lost to B Crispe 18-21.
The purple team has now booked its place in the grand final, to be played at City Memorial BC next Tuesday, February 27.
Mortlake Green (div. 4) lost to City Jade 36-45 at Warrnambool.
G MacDonald lost to G Husband 15-21 and L O'Shannessy lost to L Williams 21-24.
For Mortlake Green, they had a second chance last Tuesday in the preliminary final and the results were as follows:
Mortlake Green (div. 4) def. Koroit Yellow 52-27 at Warrnambool BC.
G MacDonald def. J Keane 27-16 and L O'Shannessy def. J Sicely 25-11.
Congratulations to Mortlake Green players who have booked their place alongside Mortlake Purple in the grand final at City Memorial BC next Tuesday.

Good luck to Mortlake Purple and Green in their quest for finals glory.
Action will start 9.45am and members are encouraged to go along and support the teams.
Last Saturday saw the start of the finals series with Mortlake’s division one side, Mortlake Blue, playing top of the table City Red at Port Fairy BC.
Semi-final results:

D Grant def B Sheehan 18-17, G Draffen def M Solly 26-18 and L Johnson lost to V Moloney 17-22.
Congratulations to Mortlake Blue for booking their grand finals berth at City Memorial BC on Saturday, March 2.
It has been a while between drinks for Mortlake Blue with grand finals berths.
They will attempt to make history in March by being the only side, other than Warrnambool and City, to win a weekend pennant division one premiership since Dennington won in 1992.
Good luck to Mortlake Blue.
For the Tuesday social pennant side, Mortlake will play Camperdown Black at Cobden next week.

C and T Inverarity v D Doling and J Marney (winner to play D and J Grant).
G and B Draffen v P Beardsley and G Kenna (winner to play J and H Rasmussen).
P Delaney and S Richie v V and L Smith (winner to play S Pierce and R Pasque).
If these matches could be completed as soon as possible before Sunday, March 9 that would be greatly appreciated.
There have been only two rounds allotted but three rounds have been drawn.
