Mortlake streetscape sat for facelift
MORTLAKE businesses have received the lion's share of funding under the latest round of a popular council program.
The Mortlake-based businesses will share in more than $17,000 under the funding allocation.
In total 17 businesses across Moyne Shire will receive more than $45,000 to give shopfronts a spruce up and draw in customers.
The funding was approved from the annual Business Façade Improvement Program at last week’s Ordinary Meeting of Council.
Mortlake businesses to receive the funding include:
• Mount Shadwell Hotel - $3750 for new signage, doors and façade improvement;
• Mortlake Post Plus - $3750 for signage and façade painting;
• Aberlea - $2062.50 for signage and outdoor dining improvements;
• 118 Dunlop Street - $3750 for repainting; and
• Mortlake Deli Fresh Café - $3750 for restoration and painting of façade.
Moyne Shire mayor Ian Smith said the annual program was a cornerstone of council’s business support program.
“This program helps businesses look their best, which helps them attract customers and in turn make out streetscapes more attractive and appealing, encouraging passers-by to stop in and making our communities attractive places to live and work,” he said.
“Funding allocated under this round of the program will be used for a range of improvements – from painting, new signage, repairs to window frames and improving outdoor areas.
“It’s fantastic to see businesses in each of our main centers benefiting from this program – I’m looking forward to seeing the works completed and the difference they will make to the appearance and feel of our streetscapes.”
Cr Smith said it was the fourth round of the program and the total value of projects including business co-contributions was $147,767.
