STEP aside Bathurst 1000 there’s another not-to-be-missed racein town.

Adrenaline will be pumping at Camperdown’s Frederick Street Oval on Saturday with the sixth staging of Camperdown College’s annual Mow Down event.

Three classes of racing and a junior section will entertain spectators, with the ‘souped up’, high horsepower, customised machines vying for line honours.

Camperdown College’s BenWaterfall said he is looking forward to the event which is part of the VICMOW series.

He said this is the first year since COVID restrictions began the popular event could be held.

Ben said school VCAL students have been involved in the preparation of the school’s mower ahead of racing, which features a motorbike mower for the extra power boost.

“There are two drivers on the Camperdown College team,” he said.

“There will be other mowers coming on the day.”

Racers compete on a circuit track on the day.

Gates open at 10am Saturday with all members of the community invited to join in the fun with plenty of thrills and spills ahead for racers.

Entry is by gold coin donation and food is available onsite.
