Mottram shines

WITH figures of 3/12, young fast bowler Blake Mottram earned the praises of Heytesbury Rebels coach Simon Harkness after his performance last weekend.
Mottram put in a solid bowling performance against Noorat on Saturday, along with the likes of fellow Rebels player Bayley Thompson with 3/16.
“Our bowlers really stood up to the task despite the windy conditions and I was thrilled with how they went on the weekend,” Harkness said.
“It was good to see Blake and Tom (Hunt) both do well on the day. Tom finished on 36 runs and we declared at 5/100 which was enough to get us over the line.”
Reflecting on the game, Harkness said the only “slight negative” from the day was the number of wides on the scoresheet.
“I think we finished with about 25 extras so that’s not ideal and it’s something we will look to improve on in the coming weeks,”Harkness said.
This weekend the Rebels will take on Bookaar at their home ground and Harkness said the match will give his side an indication of where it currently sits.
“Bookaar is a quality side but we’re up for the challenge and it will be good to see where we’re at,” Harkness said.
In division two last Saturday, Heytesbury Rebels finished on 6/106 defeating Ecklin, 105.
Best with the bat for the Rebels were R. Jones 28 and S. Crees 17 while Jones also finished with bowling figures of 3/16, well supported by Z. Lenehan with 3/19.
