Moulden and Kerr win club championships

THE Camperdown Golf championships concluded with the final rounds played in excellent conditions.

Jack Kerr won his sixth straight championship with a four round score of 292 shots ahead of Tom Baker on 296.

In a closely-contested B grade, Peter Hughes won from Matt Sinnott by one stroke.

The C grade competition was a stableford event and after the four rounds Gary Lafferty was the winner with 134 points.

The Talindert Cup was won by Jack Kerr with the best scratch score 68.

The Jack Hay Cup was awarded to Rick Carr for best nett score after four rounds with 297 Nett.

The third and deciding round of the women’s championships was played at the Camperdown Golf Club last Saturday week.

Jess Moulden had a two-shot lead over experienced campaigner, Donna Conheady going into the final round and managed to hold on to win by the slimmest of margins (one shot).

Jess Moulden is now the A grade winner and Club Champion with a score of 90-94-93 (aggregate 277).

Donna Conheady was the runner-up on 93-93-92 (aggregate 278).

In B grade Jenny O’Neil had a six shot lead after two rounds, however her nerve was really tested by Liz Fry who had an outstanding final round.

Jenny managed to hold on to win by two shots 101-105-102 (aggregate 308), just ahead of Liz Fry 103-109-98 (aggregate 310).

The Dot Hill Award for best stroke score was shared between Jess Moulden and Marg White who both carded 90 during the series.

Jess also won the Margaret Pretty Award for the three best nett scores of 71-75-75 (aggregate 221).

Liz Fry won the daily competition and the December monthly medal with 98 (27) 71.

Jenny Hillman was runner-up with 95 (21) 74.

Jenny won the 2023 Medal of Medallists competition, open to players who have won monthly medals throughout the year, and also won the daily putting competition with 27 putts.

Nearest the pins: 9th Jess Moulden, 15th Marg White, 16th Gabby Gill, 17th Jenny O’Neil.
