Murphy and Baker share top award
SOUTH West Cricket has announced its award winners for season 2023-24.
Pomborneit’s David Murphy and Bookaar’s Simon Baker both finished on 14 votes to be named division one ‘Cricketer of the Year’.
Other award recipients were as follows:
Division 1 bowling award: Nicholas Frith (Camperdown) 32 wickets.
Division 1 batting award: Simon Baker (Bookaar) 677 runs.
Division 2 Cricketer of the Year: Luke Reynolds (Pomborneit)17 votes.
Division 2 batting award: Stephen Fitzgerald (Bookaar) 478 runs.
Division 2 bowling award: Michael Pegg (Cobden) and Scott Thompson (Heytesbury Princetown) 22 wickets each.
Division 3 Cricketer of the Year: Michael Carman (Boorcan) and Murray Ellerton (Ecklin) 13 votes each.
Division 3 bowling award: Leigh Doak (Heytesbury Princetown) 26 wickets
Division 3 batting award: Murray Ellerton (Ecklin) 456 runs.
South West Cricket Team of the Year:
Simon Baker (vice-captain, Bookaar), David Murphy (Pomborneit), Tom Hunt (Heytesbury Princetown), John Reed (Camperdown), Johno Benallack (captain, Cobden), Matty Boyle (Cobden), Tharaka Sendanayake (Pomborneit), Tim Fitzgerald (Bookaar), Danussika Bandara (Pomborneit), Matty Harkin (Cobden), Nicholas Frith (Camperdown) and Paul Vogels (Heytesbury Princetown).
Representative Cricketer of the Year: James O’Neil (Camperdown).
Rising Star Award (under 21): Ryan Mottram (Heytesbury Princetown).
Country Week 100 runs frames – Eddie Lucas (Bookaar), Lachie Green (Bookaar) and Johno Benallack (Cobden).
