National title for Conheady
CAMPERDOWN’S Aidan Conheady has returned from the 2024 Australian Men’s and Mixed Netball Championships with a gold medal.
Conheady and his 17 and under Victorian team-mates performed exceptionally well at the championships, held at Brisbane’s Nissan Arena last week.
Despite sending an entirely new line-up, Victoria dominated the 17 and under competition, culminating in a nail-biting one goal grand final win in extra time.
Conheady, who had been described before the event as being “one to watch”, had a great week on the court.
Not only did he celebrate grand final victory, he was also named most valuable player for the match and listed in the All Star Team as a goal attack.
Victoria’s 17 and under side was coached by Sarah Hogan.
Along with the 17 and unders, Victoria also brought home gold in the open men’s, reserve men’s and 23 and under.
The 2024 Australian Men’s and Mixed Netball Championships is the biggest annual event on the men’s netball calendar.
The national competition brings together boys, men and mixed teams from across the country for a week of high intensity netball.
