Netballers break drought
FOR the first time in eight years, Lismore Derrinallum’s A grade netball side will play finals.
FOR the first time in eight years, Lismore Derrinallum’s A grade netball side will play finals.
Senior coach Amy Lodge said hard work, an intense pre-season and team bonding has been rewarded with two of the club’s three senior netball sides about to play finals, and its 13 and under team sitting on top of the ladder.
“This season has been a very exciting and rewarding one for us all,” Lodge said.
“Our pre-season really set us up for a strong season and we are now reaping the rewards. We spent the interrupted 2021 season second bottom on the A grade ladder with only one win for the season.”
Lodge said they started the season strong and held on to fifth spot for the duration of the season.
“We achieved all our goals and began to create new ones to keep improving and stay competitive with the top sides in Mininera."
“We’ve been humbled with every win this season and have learnt a lot about our teams’ strengths and areas for improvement from our losses.”
Lodge believes the season has been a somewhat unpredictable one, with multiple one-goal margin results and constant movement on the ladder.
“All our hard work paid off when we secured our spot in the finals,” Lodge said.
“To finish off the season in the top five among some incredible sides is amazing."
“Regardless of the outcome of this Sunday’s elimination final, I am beyond proud of all our netballers for their continued hard work resilience and determination. We look forward to seeing what the 2023 season also brings for us.”
