Netballers dominate
LISMORE Derrinallum’s A grade netballers are continuing to shine in season 2023.

LISMORE Derrinallum’s A grade netballers are continuing to shine in season 2023.
The Demons, who had a bye last weekend, currently sit second on the Mininera League ladder with six wins to their name, percentage ahead of Ararat in third and Hawkesdale Macarthur in fourth.
A grade coach, Amy Lodge, said she was “absolutely thrilled” with how her side was travelling to date, and was looking forward to the oncoming rounds.
“We had a really strong pre-season and our numbers at training continue to be really strong and that’s showing on the court,” she said.
“We certainly have our sights set on playing finals but at the moment we’re just taking each week as it comes.”
While the Demons’ top netball side sits high on the ladder, the Demons’ senior footballers currently sit two games out of the top five.
With just two wins from seven rounds, the Demons are struggling to convert on the scoreboard, going down to the in-form Wickliffe Lake Bolac last weekend by 164 points.
The round seven match proved a tough one for the Demons, coming off the previous week’s win over SMW Rovers at home.
The big Bolac ground suited the home side, who were quick to take advantage of the ball in their forward 50.
Final scores were Lismore Derrinallum 3.2.20 to Wickliffe Lake Bolac 28.16.184.
Best for the Demons were Ruben Vesikuru, Dale Marquand, Charlie Brett, James Halloran and Josh Anderson.
Hayden Brett, Thomas Dewey and Tom Millard each contributed a goal.
In the reserves match earlier, the Demons enjoyed a convincing 152-point win over the Magpies, 24.16.160 to 1.2.8.
Ryan Jeffrey booted six for the Demons and was named best, alongside Jarrid Gilbert, Lachlan Nelson, Adam Courtney and Ned Uren.
Other scoreboard contributors were Johnno Benallack (three goals), Lachlan Nelson (3), Jack Sanders (2), Ned Uren (2) and one each from Adam Courtney and James Sanders-Brown.
The team currently sits third on the reserves ladder with five wins, a game clear of Tatyoon in fourth and one game behind second-placed Ararat.
The netball courts provided a mixed bag of results for the Demons, winning two of the four matches played.
In A grade, the Demons had a bye last weekend and will be looking to add another win to the board when they face Caramut at home tomorrow (Saturday).
