School principal Tim Bourke said demolition began on Tuesday to clear land for a new senior school wing on the school grounds.

“Construction company Magellan Projects will create four classrooms, an art room and a STEM room to replace aging portable rooms,” he said.

“The cost of the build is $3 million and this has been funded through grants, school funds, locals and money from the Catholic education system.”

Mr Bourke said the new build was expected to take about seven months to complete.

He said the Grade 5/6 students should be in the facilities before the end of the year.

Mr Bourke said the executive director of Catholic education, Ballarat Diocese Tom Sexton paid a visit to the school on Tuesday to see the progress of the project and to meet with school leaders and students.

“There will be some disruption to the school routine during construction, but the new classroom will be worth the inconvenience,” he said.
