LEADING Senior Constable Adrian Dolman is enjoying the opportunity to build closer connections with members of the community after recently transferring to the Mortlake police station.

Ldg Snr Const Dolman made the move after spending more than a decade with Warrnambool police.

He said the move presented an opportunity to enjoy a different kind of lifestyle while bringing his experience to policing efforts in a quieter community.

“I love it in Mortlake, it’s a good station and a good town where everyone is friendly and always up for a chat,” he said.

“It was time for a change after 11 years in Warrnambool, which is a very busy station, so it has been nice."

“I wanted a bit of a change in to a country police station, and when a spot came up here I grabbed it.”

Ldg Snr Const Dolman spent his formative years in South Australia before moving to the western suburbs of Melbourne.

He said he came to policing later in life after working for 25 years in the banking sector.

“I had family in the police service, so I made the change and have been policing for 16 years now,” he said.

“I started out in Melbourne where I was for about six years, but I wanted a sea change so I moved to Warrnambool."

“Being out here is a different kind of policing. It’s more community based."

“You get to know the members of the community, where in Melbourne you’d be lucky to meet many members of the public once or twice."

“There are also a lot of cops in Melbourne, always police around the corner, where up here the resources are spread a little thinner and you might be the only unit for half an hour.”

Ldg Snr Const Dolman invited members of the community to say hello if they see him out and about.

“I enjoy it, we’re always floating around and try to say hello to people.”
