New EV charger installed
WORKS to install Corangamite Shire’s first electric vehicle (EV) charging station have been completed.

WORKS to install Corangamite Shire’s first electric vehicle (EV) charging station have been completed.
Owners of electric vehicles have been making use of the station since it became operational in mid-April.
At its December meeting, council passed an agreement with Evie Networks to run a station on Bath Street.
Mayor Ruth Gstrein said the project was in line with council’s ‘Community 2040 Vision’.
“The residents on the community jury that designed the long term vision made clear that electric vehicle charging stations were vital to a resilient economy for the long term,” she said.
“It was also in keeping with commitments in the Council Plan 2021-2025 to make the Shire attractive to visitors and new residents while helping our community plan and respond to climate change.
“Last year Corangamite was one of 20 regional Councils in a statewide project led by the Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance, called ‘Charging the Regions’.
“It identified gaps in the EV charging network and suggested good sites that would help EV drivers travel more easily in regional areas. Camperdown was identified as a priority town.”
Council understands Tesla is negotiating with private landowners to install a charger in Port Campbell.
