New exhibition at Courthouse
CAMPERDOWN Courthouse will be holding a special exhibition of local artists, starting next week.

CAMPERDOWN Courthouse will be holding a special exhibition of local artists, starting next week.
The exhibition, ‘It’s Just How We See It’, features paintings, lino cuts and ceramics from Adam Clarke and Jake Morgan.
The works will be on display from the end of the month.
Mother of Jake Lorraine McKenzie said their art teacher Glenn Morgan encouraged an exhibition in their hometown.
“Their last exhibition was in Warrnambool during COVID, so it was a little bit limited for people to get to,” she said.
“Glenn thought it’d be nice for the boys to show what they do in their home town, and for family and friends that couldn’t get to Warrnambool during COVID to come and have a look at their artworks.
“We thought it’s be lovely for the boys to have it locally, and to have an opportunity to bring their family and friends and walk through the exhibition and see what they’ve been up to with their art over the last few years.
Ms McKenzie said the artworks by Adam and Jake were done “as they see it”.
“They’re not worried about what people think or how they should do things,” she said.
“They think about it themselves, and they put it down on the canvas just how they see it.
“They love sharing their artwork; Jake gets real pleasure from his friends seeing his art and talking to him about his art. It’s a great social thing for him, too.
Ms McKenzie believes people will enjoy the artworks on display.
“I think they’re fantastic,” she said.
“Adam’s got paintings that just make me smile when I look at them, and I look at what Jake has achieved, and I think it’s phenomenal.”
Mr Morgan, said he couldn’t be more proud.
“I’ve been teaching them for close to six years now, and it’s been great,” he said.
“They’re good young people, and they’re a pleasure to teach.
“They just get a lot of joy from their art and both have some very distinctive styles in their works.”
Mr Morgan said the last exhibition in Warrnambool was a success, and that the boys were happy with the reception of their works.
“There were a lot of people at the exhibition from Camperdown and I thought it would be good for the boys to do an exhibition in their home town,” he said.
Courthouse’s art lead Jan Barnes said she had seen Jake’s works before, finding them “impressive and interesting”.
“It’s also interesting to see how different people perceive things; everyone sees things differently and depicts them in their artwork differently,” she said.
“They’re not influenced by convention or some school of art.”
The exhibition will run from Friday, March 31 to Wednesday, April 26.
