New jumpers thanks to Op Shop

TERANG College students have new football jumpers thanks to a generous donation from the local op shop.
Volunteers from the Terang Op Shop recently donated $600 towards the purchase of 30 new jumpers; with the remaining funds coming from an AFL Victoria grant and the college.
Op shop volunteer and project manager Andrea Balcombe said the group was thrilled to be able to once again support a local school.
“Our band of volunteers work hard to keep the shop open six mornings a week and we’re always happy to support local schools, clubs and community groups in need,” Andrea said.
“We’re here to raise funds for our community and we take pride in that.
“The shop is open from 9am-1pm weekdays and 9am-12noon each Saturday and we happily accept donations of saleable items but ask that they be left during these hours.”
Terang College was successful in its application to AFL Victoria for a grant of 50 per cent of the total cost of the jumpers, with the remaining balance covered by the college and the op shop.
With the participation in football gaining momentum among female students at the college, there was a growing need for additional jumpers to fit the junior and intermediate students.
The college extends its thanks to both the op shop and AFL Victoria for their support of grassroots football.
