Shed president Murray Ibbs said the group received a $2000 grant from Australia Post to purchase new tools for the shed.

“We’ve only just received them,” he said.

“We’re also working on an extension to the shed.

“It’s very exciting.”

The Cobden Men’s Shed was one of 47 groups to receive a grant in Victoria from Australia Post.

Mr Ibbs was pleased with the grant, which would benefit the shed’s members.

“I’d like to say thank you to the local Cobden Post Office for nominating us and Australia Post for giving the grant,” he said.

Australia Post general manager community and stakeholder engagement Nicky Tracey said the seventh year of the program would once again help local organisations continue to make a positive impact on communities across the nation.

“At the heart of this initiative is Australia Post team members, who witness first-hand the incredible work community groups do every day across Australia. Our People of Post grants give them the chance to give back,” she said.

“At a time where cost of living is high, it’s great that Australia Post can help make a lasting impact to some of Australia’s most pressing issues.

“We also know community groups are pivotal in fostering a sense of belonging and making a positive difference to individuals every day, which is particularly important at a time where one in seven Australians experience social isolation and loneliness.”

The Cobden Men’s Shed is located at the rear of Cobddenhealth and is open each Tuesday between 10am and 3pm.

New members are always welcome.
