MEMBERS of the Timboon Country Fire Authority (CFA) unit have taken delivery of a new tanker.

Unit captain Bryce Morden said members were currently receiving training on how to operate the new truck before it is put into operation.

“We’ve started learning how to use the truck, it’s a big step-up from the last one,” he said.

“It’s (the new truck) much larger and more powerful. It’s different to drive.”

Mr Morden expected the new truck to be put into use from this month onwards.

He said the new addition for the Timboon unit was provided through the CFA as a result of the fire services levy.

Mr Morden said there will be a number of benefits as a result of the upgrade.

“One of the big issues we had with the old truck is it lacked the power to get up hills,” he said.

“It will help us get to places more efficiently.

“We’re really excited about it, and we’re looking forward to getting it out on the road.”

Residents were encouraged to ensure their driveways were clear and gates large enough to accommodate the truck.
