Nominate the shire’s unsung heroes
THE Corangamite community has been urged to give the selfless volunteers their moment in the spotlight.
Nominations for the 2025 Corangamite Shire Community Awards are open, with the community urged to nominate those deserving of recognition across three categories:
Community Volunteer of the Year;
Young Community Volunteer of the Year; and
Community Event of the Year awards.
The 2025 Corangamite Shire Community Awards will be presented at the Theatre Royal in Camperdown on January 26 next year.
Corangamite Shire acting chief executive officer Justine Linley called on shire residents to nominate the people and events who deserved recognition for their contributions to the community.
“This is an opportunity to celebrate the fantastic efforts members of our community put in, year after year, to make Corangamite such a great place to live,” she said.
“I encourage everyone to think about who you know in your neighbourhood, sporting club, service club, landcare group – or any other community organisation – who goes that extra mile to keeps things running.
“The Community Volunteer of the Year, Young Community Volunteer of the Year and Community Event of the Year awards are a way to recognise the generosity of these unsung heroes who give their time for the benefit of the community.”
The awards will be presented as part of the Shire’s Australia Day activities on Sunday, January 26 in 2025.
Nominations will remain open until Monday, October 28.
Nomination forms and guidelines are available online at corangamite.vic.gov.au/CommunityAwards or by calling Corangamite Shire Council directly on 5593 7100.
Details of Corangamite Shire’s plans for the 2025 Australia Day ceremony, including the entertainment and guest speaker, will be confirmed closer to the date.
