NOORAT’S division three cricketers are South West premiers for season 2022-23.

In what was a low-scoring affair in windy conditions at Pomborneit last Saturday, Noorat took victory over Princetown by 60 runs.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Noorat’s Simon Densley stole the show with an unbeaten 54 not out to be named player of the match.

Densley was well supported by Toby Harris who contributed 10 – the pair the only two to reach double figures in the side’s 109 runs.

“To be honest we were a bit concerned heading out to bowl,” club president Michael Williams said.

“Defending 109 in a grand final isn’t the ideal scenario; we would have preferred to have at least another 40 or so runs on the board.

“But to the boys’ credit they dug deep and had Princetown at 10/49. Our bowlers were amazing and they were well backed up in the field in what was difficult weather conditions for both sides.

“Overall it was a great team effort and the club is extremely proud.”

Noorat’s bowlers performed some of their best for the season, with Mark Clissold finishing the day with figures of 5/13 off eight.

He was well supported by Andrew Battistello with 2/15 off seven and Thomas Clissold 1/6 off six.
