NOORAT will showcase its local artists each month with a prominent window display bringing a bit of vibrancy to the community.

Noorat and District Residents Association president Eve Black and former secretary Lynn Patzel saw an opportunity to utilise the window space opposite the Mount Noorat Hotel and approached owner Judith Conheady and daughter Georgina about the potential to host a monthly display.

“They thought it was a wonderful idea,” Mrs Black said.

“We’re going to continue this all through the year and beyond."

“It provides a chance to promote our local artists, and we’d like to be able to showcase their talent here; where it all starts."

“We’ve approached a local photographer about having a display of old and new Noorat. I think a Christmas display goes without saying, we’ll embrace calendar events.”

The Noorat and District Residents Association used its first display in April to recognise the men and women who served their country.

An Anzac-themed display was brimming with memorabilia donated by Mrs Black, Ms Patzel, Patrick Lyons and the Terang Returned and Services League sub branch.

Ms Patzel said the display was well received, especially during this year’s Anzac Day service in Noorat.

“We had wonderful community support with more than 60 people,” she said.

“We focus on children and let them have a turn in the service, and they did really well this year."

“We also got a lot of response on Facebook to the window display.”

This month the display features a range of works from local artist Helen Durant.

“Helen has some paintings there which are all for sale,” Mrs Black said.
