Noorat seeks redemption
NOORAT cricketers will be hoping to turn the tables on Woorndoo in this Saturday’s Twenty20 clash in Terang.

NOORAT cricketers will be hoping to turn the tables on Woorndoo in this Saturday’s Twenty20 clash in Terang.
After losing to the Tigers by a small margin last weekend, Noorat will be keen to take the first-round win in this Saturday’s knock-out tournament.
Club president Michael Williams said his side was disappointed to have lost last Saturday and will be looking to reverse the result on the weekend.
“It was certainly disappointing not to get the points last Saturday so we’ll be keen to turn the tables on the weekend,” Williams said.
“We only managed 111 on Saturday so we need to focus on getting more runs on the board. We aren’t getting them quick enough and Saturday showed we don’t have enough bowlers in the side.”
Martin Wynd was the top scorer for Noorat with a knock of 17, followed by Steven O’Connor on 15 and Max Heffernan’s 14 not out.
Best of the bowlers for the visitors were Jacob Fishwick with 2/11 off six overs and Gus Bourke 1/15 from 10.
“Woorndoo finished on 4/114, which isn’t a lot of runs, so we really need to focus on getting more on the board and defending our score,” Williams said.
“If we can take any positives out of the game it’s that we held our wicket and batted through the overs.”
In the division three match, Noorat’s 6/90 was enough to take the points over Heytesbury Rebels who finished on 85.
Best of the batters for Noorat were Toby Roberts 27 and Max Kavanagh 16 while for the bowlers were Andrew Battistello 4/13 off eight, Toby Roberts 2/20 off five and Eamon O’Connor 2/32 from eight.
Williams made special mention of the efforts of young Max Kavanagh who made 16 in what was his first senior game.
“Max had a great day and really held his own,” Williams said.
“He did a great job at the crease and it would be great to see him play more senior games in the weeks to come.”
Noorat hopes to see the return of the likes of Mark Clissold, Isaac Kenna and Jimmy Maloney to bolster their side this weekend.
