Oh so close... Bombers defeated seconds before siren
A GOAL to Koroit just seconds before the final siren saw the Saints snatch the 2023 under 16 premiership from the Bombers last weekend.

A GOAL to Koroit just seconds before the final siren saw the Saints snatch the 2023 under 16 premiership from the Bombers last weekend.
According to Cobden coach Brett Taylor the last kick of the day saw the Bombers go down by just three points in Sunday’s grand final match.
“The boys were pretty disappointed. We’d kicked a goal with about 90 seconds to go and then the Saints came back and kicked one in the dying seconds,” Taylor said.
“After defeating South Warrnambool in the preliminary final the week prior, and then losing by just three points on Sunday, it’s certainly been a pretty big roller coaster.
“We’re all disappointed to have lost but in saying that I was really pleased with how the whole team performed. The effort they all put in all day was terrific.”
Taylor paid special mention of the efforts of ruckman Hamish Dean who was awarded the best on ground medallion, along with the likes of Archie Taylor and Darcy Hutchins who were also strong.
“Hamish played a great role in the centre, he gave us plenty of first opportunities at the ball and we were able to capitalise on that,” Taylor said.
“It was a great team effort and they should all be proud.”
Along with Dean, Taylor and Hutchins, Kurtis Baker, Parker Walsh and Edmund Walsh were also named in Cobden’s best players.
Baker kicked three goals for the Bombers while Finn Darcy and Darcy Hutchins kicked two each, with singles from Ryan Mottram and Archie Taylor.
Final scores were Koroit 9.10.64 to Cobden 9.7.61.
