Peter Palmer claims Veteran event
FORTY-SEVEN players took part in the latest Corangamite Veteran Golfers Association event at Mortlake last Thursday.

FORTY-SEVEN players took part in the latest Corangamite Veteran Golfers Association event at Mortlake last Thursday.
Peter Palmer’s knowledge of his local course proved instrumental in his victory, with the Mortlake gofler claiming A grade with 38 points.
He finished four clear of Ararat’s Daryl Dunford, while Timboon’s Bill Finlayson was third with 31 points following a countback.
Peterborough’s Brey Greski took out the NAGA award for the grade with 23 points.
Birregurra’s John Lyons won the B grade section with 36 points.
He finished one clear of Mortlake’s Ray Dore on 35 points, with Camperdown’s Geoff Webber finishing third on 33 points.
East Framlingham’s Ray Eccles received the NAGA award with 17 points.
The day’s competition also included nearest the pins, with Birregurra’s Steve Preston (third and 12th holes), Mortlake’s Richard van Diemen (sixth and 15th holes) and Daryl Dunford (ninth and 18th holes) claiming the honours.
