Music and laughs: Solo musical comedy performer David Scheel will be visiting Camperdown for his show Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player’ this month.

Australian-born pianist David Scheel will bring his show ‘Don't shoot me, I’m only the piano player’ to the Theatre Royal at 2 Bath Street.

The morning show on Thursday, October 31 will start at 10.30 am.

Corangamite Shire Council acting chief executive officer Justine Linley said audiences could expect virtuosic classical piano mixed with ridiculous send-ups of celebrities like Meghan and Harry or the Kardashians.

“David can play two famous pieces at the same time, and his version of ‘Waltzing matilda’ is a comedy classic,” she said.

“He also has a medley of the 20 worst tunes ever written.

“With the way he puts on different voices and accents, he has been compared to everyone from Victor Borge to Robin Williams.

“David regularly sells out at international comedy festivals and classical music festivals so it’s a real coup to have him here in Corangamite Shire.”

Mr Scheel has performed with a variety of stars, including ‘Cleo Laine; saxophonist John Dankworth; ‘Santa baby’ singer Eartha Kitt; British comedian Ben Elton; American comedian Jay Leno; slapstick comedian Norman Wisdom; and Patricia Routledge, who is best known for her role as Hyacinth Bucket in the British television series Keeping up appearances.

For a sneak preview, go to www.davidscheel.com, or search David Scheel on YouTube.

Admission is $10 per person, with a light lunch included in the ticket price.

Tickets can be purchased online at events.humanitix.com/pianoplayer, or over the phone by ringing council on 5593 7100.
