Pies too strong

THE second last round of the Hampden League home and away season was a strong one for the Magpies, with a 79-point win over Hamilton.

The Dunkeld reserve made for a happy hunting ground, with the Magpies kicking 11 goals to three in the first half to open up a 43-point lead going into the main break.

The Magpies continued their momentum into the second half, adding nine majors to the scoreboard to finish 20.13.133 to the Hamilton Kangaroos 8.6.54.

Angus Gordon kicked four majors for the Pies while Harry Sumner added three and Wilba Cheeseman, Sam Gordon, Charlie Lucas and Cameron Spence each contributed two.

Other goals for the day came from Dominic Absalom, Riley Arnold, Judah Dundon, Jonty Lafferty and Myles Sinnott with one apiece.

Camperdown’s reserves had a tough day out, going down to Hamilton 3.7.25 to 11.8.74.

Devon Coates, Tim Fitzgerald and Tarkyn Love shared the goals while Coates, Nelson Loader, Connor Jackson, Xavier O’Connor and Jeremy Lucas were named in the best.

Camperdown’s under 18.5s struggled to get a score on the board while the Kangaroos finished on 15.15.105.

Eddie Baker, Tarkyn Love, Isaac Winsall, Aidan Conheady, Ned Molan and Scott Londregan were best for the Magpies.

Netball results from last weekend:

Open – Hamilton defeated Camperdown 65-29. Best: Elsie Sinnott, Jessica Cameron and Isobel Sinnott.

Division one – Hamilton defeated Camperdown 68-18.

Division two – Hamilton defeated Camperdown 53-18.

Division three – Hamilton defeated Camperdown 42-30. Best: Ruby Walsh, Tanisha Dooley and Aliece Smith.

17 and under – Camperdown lost to Hamilton 11-54.

15 and under – Hamilton defeated Camperdown 24-22. Best: Indiana Cameron, Isla Nolan and Macy Mahony.

13 and under – Camperdown lost to Hamilton 16-26.
