Planning underway for Terang Art Show return
SOME of the best artists from across the region will be on display when the Terang Community Art Show returns this month.
The biennial event has been a highlight for the community since its introduction in 1999, doubling as an opportunity for talented artists to exhibit their work while raising funds to support student welfare programs.
The Terang Art Show will return from Friday, October 25 through to Sunday, October 27 with hundreds of pieces filling the Terang College Hall with a wide array of works.
Terang Art Show co-coordinator Margaret Moloney said the volunteers behind the art show were excited for its return.
“We always look forward to putting it on,” she said.
“We’ve got interest from artists locally in addition to some from Warrnambool, Ballarat and Geelong with a good variety – from oils, to acrylics, pastels and photography.
“There’s always student works from primary right through, around the hall and in the rooms.
“Their work always makes the hall bright and colourful.”
The show will kick off with opening night from 7.30pm, while the doors will be open across the weekend from 10am to 4pm.
Guest artists Bob Scarborough from Warrnambool and Delyce England from Camperdown will be running demonstrations across the weekend, the ladies of the Terang Uniting Church will provide lunch and afternoon tea, and a pianist will play during the afternoons.
“It will be a feast for the senses,” Mrs Moloney said.
“During the opening night on Friday there will be awards given out to students achieving a high standard.
“They get vouchers for art supplies and their paintings framed, and it’s always great to see them getting up on stage.”
There is still time for artists to get their entry forms in for exhibition at https://terangartshow.wixsite.com/artshow.
There will be a range of categories for exhibiting artists to earn cash prizes, including the coveted $1000 best in show.
“Artists have until October 16 to register their works for exhibition,” Mrs Moloney said.
“The entries are starting to trickle in, and we’re looking forward to what we’re expecting to be a wonderful event.”
