Congratulations: TOPS volunteers had a successful plant sale at the weekend, with people flocking to the shop from across the district.

SATURDAY morning was a busy day for the Timboon Opportunity Shop (TOPS) with the plant sale on.

TOPS co-ordinator Brenda Parfett said the sun was shining and sausages sizzling on the barbecue for the day.

“This was a perfect setting for garden lovers to come and browse, buy, discuss plants of every size and variety,” she said.

“The most popular plants were tomatoes...most customers bought a tomato plant onthe day.

“A basket of groceries was first prize in a raffle and a pretty blue flowering hydrangea was second prize; these were won bylocal ladies.”

Mrs Parfett said customers were from near and as far away as Warrnambool, Mortlake, Cobden and Nullawarre.

“On the day we made $1000, this will be returned to the community through our giving to organisations,” she said.

“We had many volunteers help us on the day, many people in the community not all from TOPS, and they knew we needed help with setting up or carrying plants from cars, shifting tables, in many other helpful ways.

“On behalf of the TOPS committee, we thank everyone who supported our Topshop.”
