BOTTLE tops are being collected across Camperdown for a good cause.

Organiser Peter James is collecting plastic bottle tops from milk bottles, ice cream containers, jam jars, spice jars and more.

The lids are sent overseas to be made into artificial limbs or are given to Men’s Sheds to make plastic tables and chairs.

Mr James said he has collected 160 boxes so far.

“I get them from Sunnyside, the Robinson Street Clinic, and people deliver them to my front door,” he said.

“There’re ladies that meet every Friday morning at the Camperdown BP that give bottle tops to me.

“We’ve been going for over one and a half years, and we’ve sent the boxes up to Ballarat.”

Mr James said he hopes he can collect as many bottle tops as he can get.

“If they’re all sorted into their colours, it takes a lot of weight off me,” he said.

“It doesn’t matter though, as they’re sorted when I take them up there, with all the blues together etc.

“I also take aluminium bottle tops.”

Lids can be dropped off at the following collection sites:

• Benallack’s Sports

• Camperdown Newsagency

• The Snout

• Loaf and Lounge

• Red Robin Café

• Dj’s Café

• The Farmhouse

• Quick Stop Café

• The Milk Bar

• Sweet Gifts

• Well Nest
