DESPITE having a stronger team on paper, Ballbusters found the competition much tougher in round two of Corangamite volleyball.

Two solid wins last week were followed up by two solid losses this week.

Thankfully, they were not blown off the court, showing excellent competitive spirit in both matches but just not being able to get the upper hand in vital points.

Poachers and Cooriemungle Bulls were the stand-out teams in round two, both winning their matches in authoritative fashion.

Poachers have jumped into top spot and sit six points clear of Ballbusters and Bulls.

After two week’s leave, Stallions will return to the competition in round three.

The season looks like being very even which will ensure some top-class volleyball over the next eight weeks.

Results from round two were:

Bulls def NOBTS 3-1, Poachers def Ballbusters 2-1, Poachers def Slugs 4-1, Bulls def Ballbusters 2-1 and NOBTS def Slugs 4-0.

Ladder: Poachers 14, Ballbusters 8, Bulls 8, NOBTS 6, Slugs 4 and Stallions 0.
