A REJUVENATED Poachers outfit took out the Volleyball Corangamite premiership when they defeated top team NOBTs 3-1 in the autumn season final.
Poachers narrowly won the first set but NOBTs gathered themselves quickly to dominate the second.
Spectators thought the ladder leaders would probably continue their improved play to take the honours but Poachers had other ideas.
NOBTs were kept to single digits in the next two sets to fall at the last hurdle - another flag to Poachers who are never too far away from premiership action.
The MVP in the final was Ingrid ‘Bing’ Bellman who played a near-perfect game to provide strong support for the dominant Poachers.
One of the NOBTs younger guns, Bailey Clarke, needed better set-ups from his team members to make the most of his spiking ability.
The competition was highlighted by the improvement in the young team, Rascals, entertainment provided by Cooriemungle Bulls, and the high number of new players across teams.
The winter season gets underway on Tuesday, July 11 at the Cobden Recreation Centre.
