Police investigate crash

EMERGENCY services were called to a two vehicle accident at Weerite on Monday.
Camperdown Police acting sergeant Don Camilleri said police were called to the accident at about 5pm involving a vehicle and a truck.
“We had a 48 year-old woman in a Ford wagon heading westbound. She was coming along the overpass, driving east was a prime mover,” he said.
“She’s veered onto the wrong side of the road and the front of the car has clipped the trucks cabin step and run along the side ofthe truck.
“She’s lost control and gone into the grass on the wrong side of the road and then comeback to the lane she was meant to be in.”
Act Sgt Camilleri said the vehicle’s front tyre had blown out in the incident and the airbags had deployed.
“She had minor injuries (as a result of the airbags,” he said.
“She’s very, very lucky.
“We’re looking at all matters (in relation to the cause of the accident).”
Act Sgt Camilleri said the driver of thetruck was unharmed, but was shaken up.
All emergency services attended the accident scene, with the highway closed for a short time.
In other police news, two trucks were involved in an accident on Foxhow Road at about 5am on Tuesday.
Lismore Senior Constable Scott Simpson said there were two trucks involved.
“One semitrailer and one tray truck towing a small trailer,” he said.
“They clipped each other.
“Enquiries are ongoing with the assistance of the heavy vehicle unit.”
Snr Const Simpson said one of the drivers was taken to hospital with minor injuries as a result of the collision.
Camperdown Police were also looking for the owner of a woman’s bike which has been handed into police.
