POMBORNEIT’S under 17 girls’ team had its first loss of the 2023/24 season, narrowly going down to Colac at MCP Oval on Sunday.

Batting first, Pomborneit made 7/109 from 20 overs.

Jada Mahony made her third consecutive score of 30 retired, while openers Neave Thompson (18) and Lily Van Es (14) also contributed well.

Pomborneit was on top with early wickets to opening bowlers Neave Thompson and Jada Mahony, but Colac consolidated, eventually passing the score in the 19th over, finishing at 5/117.

Other wickets went to Isabella Wain, Lilli Saarikallio and Lucia Clarke.

Pomborneit’s under 17 boys continued their strong start to the season with a big win over City United at the Eastern Reserve.

Batting first, the Bulls put together 8/200 from their 30 overs, skipper Finn Tolland leading the way with his first 50.

Noah Riches and Levi Cootesmith took three wickets each as the home team were all out for 64.

The under 16 boys batted first in their match against Heytesbury-Princetown at Timboon on Sunday.

Cousins Gavin Reynolds and Levi Cootesmith both made scores of 50 retired in the team’s total of 4/212 (Levi’s first half century).

Noah Riches, Josh Reynolds and George Sadler took two wickets each as the under 16 Bulls bowled the home team out for 85.

Pomborneit’s under 14 boys continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 75-run win over Stoneyford at Pirron Yallock on Friday night.

Nate Castle retired on 27, Dermot Conheady 26 retired and Jonty Raven 24 retired led the way with the bat in Pomborneit’s 6/142.

Marc Van Es took two wickets with one each to Josh Reynolds and Jake Van Es in Stoneyford’s score of 4/67.

In the under 13 boys, Pomborneit Gold had a five-run win over Heytesbury-Princetown at Timboon.

Max Rahles-Rahbula top scored with 22 retired, Noah Boyd had a great all-round game with 20 retired and two wickets, while Alex Huggins took three wickets.

Pomborneit Maroon had a 46-run win over Camperdown at MCP Oval, with Miller Murphy top scoring with 20 retired.

In the under 13 girls, a great crowd at MCP Oval last Wednesday night watched Pomborneit Gold play Pomborneit Maroon.

Gold batted first and put together 6/95 - top scores were Charlotte Richardson with 16 and Isla Spokes with 15.

Stella Hinds took two wickets in her first game for the club, while Scarlett Whitehead and Jayde Melano the other wicket takers for Maroon.

Pomborneit Maroon put in a strong team batting performance in reply, making 5/120 to record a 25-run win.

Marissa Whitehead top scored for Maroon with seven, Meg Nolan, Lucy Kleinhenz and Charlotte Richardson the wicket takers for Maroon.
