KOLORA Noorat’s finals campaign continues this weekend when it faces Panmure in the Warrnambool District preliminary final.

The Power earnt a spot in this Saturday’s final following a 24-point win over Merrivale in the semi-final last Sunday.

Senior coach Nick Bourke said he was thrilled with his side’s efforts all over the ground on the weekend.

“The boys all put in 110 per cent from the start. They came out firing in the first quarter and took advantage of kicking with the wind,” Bourke said.

“We were up by 24 points after the first quarter but Merrivale is a quality side and they got within seven points by half-time.”

With just nine points separating the sides at the three-quarter break, Bourke was “thrilled” to see his side run over the top of Merrivale in the final term to win by three goals.

“Our last quarter effort was terrific,” Bourke said.

“Chris Baxter was super and got a lot of the footy, Lucas Boyd was strong up forward, our midfielders worked hard all day and our forwards were dangerous; it was a great team effort.”

Looking to this weekend’s clash, Bourke said Panmure defeated Power by about 23 points in the qualifying final but he was keen to turn the tables on Saturday.

“They got us last time but we’ve learnt from that,” Bourke said.

“We took a lot out of that game and will definitely come out firing on Saturday.”

Final scores in last weekend’s semi-final were Kolora Noorat 13.14.92 to Merrivale 11.2.68.

Best for the Power were Samuel Kenna, Lucas Boyd, Joel Moloney, Joshua Wallace and Luke McConnell.

Goals went to Lucas Boyd (4), Samuel Kenna (2), Jason Moloney (2), Fred Beasley, Nick Bourke, Samuel Boyd, Scott Judd and Nick Marshall.

Kolora Noorat’s under 18 side won its way through to the grand final with a 12.6.78 to 5.11.41 victory over Russells Creek.

Best for the Power were Oscar Curran, Nicholas Castersen, Jack Carlin, Jack Vaughan, Caleb Kavanagh and Ted Kenna.

Bourke praised the under 18 side and coaches Phil Beasley and Nick Marshall and wished them well for the grand final.

“The 18s are a terrific side, led by two great coaches, and it’s exciting to have them in the grand final,” Bourke said.

“Several of them have played in the seniors at various times throughout the year and I think that experience is really showing. It’s an exciting time for the club and for the future.”
