Power go two for two
KOLORA-NOORAT claimed their second victory of the 2022 Warrnambool and Districts Football League last week when they defeated Allansford 13.11 (89) to 6.8 (44).

KOLORA-NOORAT claimed their second victory of the 2022 Warrnambool and Districts Football League last week when they defeated Allansford 13.11 (89) to 6.8 (44).
The Cats jumped the Power early, moving the ball freely through the first quarter to go into the first break up by a goal.
Kolora-Noorat responded through the next two periods, taking control of the game as their senior players stepped up to the challenge.
The Power kicked five goals to none in the second quarter to go into half time four goals ahead and continued to press through the third, outscoring Allansford four goals to one.
A largely even last quarter had little bearing on the outcome, with the Power cruising to a 45-point win.
Power coach Nick Bourke praised his veteran players, citing their leadership and composure as major factors in his side turning the game around after quarter time.
“We spoke at quarter time about a few things we needed to work on, they were probably able to kick the ball around a little too much,” Bourke said.
“We tried to minimise that and get the ball back in our hands, and our older players in Joel Moloney, Scott Judd and Ben Fraser really stood up and helped our kids."
“From there we were able to take control of the game and play really good patches of footy.”
Captain Joel Moloney, who kicked two goals and was named best on ground for the Power, was instrumental in the victory.
“He’s our captain, and he’s shown why. From early on he battled, like he does every week, he’s in and under,” Bourke said.
“His work load is tremendous, I’d hate to see how he pulls up on a Saturday because the work he puts in is really good."
“He allows our outside players to play their roles really well.”
This week the Power host third-placed Merrivale, and Bourke anticipates an arm wrestle of a game.
“I felt against Allansford we adjusted really well after quarter time, and we’ll need to do that this week against a strong side in Merrivale,” he said.
“They’re in really good form, so getting the game back on our terms will be something we’ll need to do at some stage this week.”
Bourke said the midfield battle would be the key to victory against the Tigers.
“Both midfields have lots of experience, they have a couple of really good ruckmen and so do we,”he said.
“If we can get on top in that area it’ll hold us in good stead. It’s going to be a really good challenge for us.”
In other WDFL matches, Merrivale lost to top side Nirranda, Panmure defeated Russells Creek by a point, South Rovers had a 62-point victory against Old Collegians, and Timboon lost away to Dennington.
