Power remains in top five

DESPITE last weekend’s 44-point loss to Dennington, Kolora Noorat remains in the top five on the Warrnambool and District ladder.

Sitting just a game clear of the sixth-placed Dennington, the Power struggled to apply pressure on the scoreboard, with the home side breaking away in the opening term, kicking 4.3 to just three behinds.

The second quarter saw the visitors step up the pace and make good use of the ball in the forward line, adding 3.5 while containing Dennington to just two goals.

The Power went into the second half 14 points behind and were unable to overrun the home side, eventually going down by 44 points.

Final scores were Kolora Noorat 6.11.47 to Dennington 13.13.91.

Best for the Power were Louis Cahill, Jack Carlin, Jack Aitken, Aaron Robertson, Stephen O’Connor and Nick Marshall.

Having made his senior debut for the Power earlier this month, Riley Kelly continued his good form, kicking three goals for the side, while team-mates Caleb Kavanagh, Samuel Kenna and Justin Wallace contributed one apiece.

Kolora Noorat’s reserves got within a goal of victory earlier in the day, going down by just five points, 8.4.52 to 8.9.57.

Best for the team were Nelson Anders, Jesse Sorgiovanni, Daniel Carr, Riley Scanlon and Isaiah Bird.

Kolora Noorat’s A grade netballers enjoyed a nail-biting win over Dennington, taking the points 33-32.

Other results from the day:

A reserve – Dennington defeated Kolora Noorat 37-34.

B grade – Dennington defeated Kolora Noorat 40-39.

17 and under – Kolora Noorat defeated Dennington 33-19.

15 and under – Dennington defeated Kolora Noorat 36-17.

13 and under – Dennington defeated Kolora Noorat 24-17.

Round eight this weekend will see the Power at home to Merrivale.
