Power shows strength

KOLORA Noorat edged closer to the top five on the Warrnambool District Ladder, and now sits just percentage below Dennington, following its win over Panmure last weekend.

The Power thrilled its home crowd on Saturday, notching up win number five for the home and away season.

The round 13 match-up saw the home side get off to a relatively slow start against the Bulldogs to be three points behind at the end of the opening term.

By the main break the visitors had added 7.8 to the scoreboard while containing Power to 5.6 for the half.

Re-grouping at the break, Power regained control of the ball in the third term and was able to kick 4.1 to 2.1 to get within two points heading into the last.

The Power finished the day strong, dominating the ground and kicking 5.6 for the quarter while containing Panmure to just 1.3.

Final scores Kolora Noorat 14.13.97 to Panmure 10.12.72.

Best for the Power were Oscar Curran, Jack Vaughan, Mitchell Wyss, Jack Carlin, Nick Castersen and Jarrod Evans.

Vaughan kicked five goals for the day while Carlin and Justin Wallace each contributed two.

Other goal scorers were George Beasley, Eitan Brooks, Castersen, Jesse Sorgiovanni and Sam Uwland.

The Power’s reserves also sit sixth on their ladder but two games behind the fifth-placed Dennington.

Last Saturday saw them celebrate a 10-point win over Panmure in a low-scoring game, 5.6.36 to 4.2.26.

Best for the Power were Tom Godber, Craig King, Harry Stuart, Riley Scanlon and Tyler Beasley.

The Power’s netballers put on a strong show on the courts, winning five of the six games played.

A grade defeated Panmure 47-41 last weekend and now sits fourth on the ladder, a game behind Merrivale (third) and three games clear of the fifth-placed Dennington.

In the A reserve game, Panmure defeated Kolora Noorat 33-29.

B grade – Kolora Noorat defeated Panmure 43-12.

17 and under – Kolora Noorat defeated Panmure 45-18.

15 and under – Kolora Noorat defeated Panmure 23-15.

13 and under – Kolora Noorat defeated Panmure 17-12.
