Power sneaks home
KOLORA Noorat’s seniors now sit a game clear in third on the Warrnambool District ladder thanks to a win over Timboon last weekend.
The Power, with four wins on the board, sit a game clear of Merrivale in fourth, with Russells Creek rounding up the top five.
Last Saturday’s home game against the Demons started slowly for the Power, contained to just 2.3 for the opening term.
Applying added pressure in the second quarter, and restricting the Demons to just 1.1 saw the Power head into the main break with a slim four-point lead.
A seven goal to five second half was enough for the home side to clench a narrow 16-point victory, 11.13.79 to 9.9.63.
Best for the Power were Oscar Curran, Nick Marshall, Justin Wallace, Jack Vaughan, Stephen O’Connor and George Beasley.
Goals went to Louis Cahill and Justin Wallace (three each), George Beasley (2), Oscar Curran, San Uwland and Jack Vaughan.
In the reserves, Kolora Noorat went down to the Demons by 14-points, 5.7.37 to 8.3.51.
Jordi Dwyer, named best on ground for the side, kicked two goals, along with Riley Scanlon, while team-mate Ryley McDougall contributed one.
Others named in the best included Michael Bell, Craig King, Bailey Kavenagh, Harry Stuart and Ryley McDougall.
