WOORNDOO Mortlake’s 18 and under netballers are Mininera League premiers and champions for 2024.
The side, coached by Shona Makepeace, was undefeated after the home and away season.
The Tigers defeated Penshurst 27-23 in the semi-final late last month before defeating neighbours Lismore Derrinallum 46-26 in last Saturday’s grand final.
The Tigers’ versatile goaler Elise Killen was named best on court by umpires.
After a strong home and away season, Woorndoo Mortlake’s B grade netballers finished third on the league ladder and also had a strong finals series.
They defeated Hawkesdale Macarthur in the qualifying final 38-16, lost to Ararat in the semi-final 29-43 but went on to defeat Hawkesdale Macarthur again in the preliminary final, 37-35.
The Tigers fought hard in last Saturday’s grand final match against Ararat but were defeated 27-45.
