Premiers
COBDEN’S under 16s have won the South West Cricket premiership flag for the second consecutive year.

Coached by Chris Walsh, the young Knights put on a great display with both bat and ball against Bookaar at the Camperdown Lakes oval last Sunday morning and later celebrated the win.
“The boys all played really well and I couldn’t be prouder,” Walsh said.
“They were really focused when they went out to bat and made sure they kept the scoreboard ticking along.
“And then in the field, they all played their part; they took catches and bowled nice and full. It was a great team effort.”
Having won the toss and elected to bat first, the Knights reached 8/119 after 35 overs, with opener Max Slater reaching 39 from 82 deliveries, including two boundaries.
He was well supported by Monty Darcy (18 from 39 balls) and Ben Vogels (16 from 11 which included two fours).
Opener Leonard Walsh also added 14 runs while Ryan Bailey was unbeaten on 12.
In reply, Bookaar was restricted to 10/85 in the 29th over with middle-order batsman Rory Cameron (31), Arlo Herry (15) and Gus Fryers (11no) the only three to reach double figures.
Cobden’s Max Slater had a great day out, backing up his 39 runs with a fine spell with the ball – taking 4/21 from six overs.
Slater was later named Player of the Match for his efforts.
Rhys Darcy was also effective at the crease, taking 2/4 from two overs while other wickets fell for Leonard Walsh 1/18, Michael Benallack 1/12, Eamon Sloane 1/13 and Monty Darcy 1/5.
Cobden’s premiership side comprised Lenny Walsh (captain), Eamon Sloane (vice-captain), Max Slater, Monty Darcy, Ben Vogels, Clem Walsh, Josh Roberts, Mikie Benallack, Ryan Bailey, Jack Couch, Lochie Hayes, Rhys Darcy, Tyler Bailey and Leo Slater.
South West Cricket last weekend announced their junior award winners for season 2024/25.
Cricketer of the Year went to Josh Reynolds (Pomborneit Bulls) on 423 points – he also won the bowling award, taking 14 wickets at 6.07.
The batting award went to Albie Cheeseman (Bookaar Pelicans) with 241 runs at an average of 60.25.
