PREMIERSHIP honours has once again eluded the Pomborneit Gold women’s team, losing the grand final to Bookaar for a third successive year.
Skipper Samantha Coxon won the toss and elected to bat, the team not losing a wicket until the score was 29 but losing regular wickets from that point on.
Opener Jessica Moulden hit the ball sweetly, retiring at 30 before returning at the fall of the sixth wicket to come back and plunder the bowling in a lone effort.
The final wicket fell when a well struck ball from Moulden, looking to bring up her 50, deflected from the bowlers’ hand to hit the stumps, leaving non-strike Rachel Dendle short of her ground.
Gold was all out for 77, with the hard-hitting opener unbeaten on 49.
Bookaar rarely looked troubled in the run chase, not losing a wicket until losing two with the score on 76 - ultimately passing Pomborneit Gold's score in the 16th over.
Nellie Sadler and Rachel Dendle both took a wicket each.
