MEMBERS of Terang and District Probus Club were deeply saddened by the passing of Robin Bryce, who was a founding member of the club.
Subsequently Robin was awarded a life membership of the club due to his contribution in a variety of roles.
Don Treloar inducted new member Gary Marr.
The club is keen to attract members to build on its current membership of sixty.
Members enjoyed a recent trip to Port Campbell Information Centre where they were addressed by centre manager Mike Cuthell.
This was followed by lunch at Timboon followed by a visit to the Timboon Ice creamery, where members learned about ice-cream making.
Guest speaker was Rob Storr who gave us an insight into his teaching career.
Rob talked about how much difference the is in how each of us experience our school life.
Our experiences are affected by who we have in our class and how we relate to our teachers.
Rob explained that though we often think of education is learning its true meaning is ‘to lead out’ and he tried throughout his teaching career to lead his students to live the best life that they could.
He tried to teach them self-management in the need to want to learn.
Although Rob taught maths science and religious education when people asked him what he taught he liked to tell them that he taught kids (his students).
He spent many years teaching around the Cranbourne area but he also taught in East Timor and currently still does relief teaching at Mercy College in Camperdown and Noorat.
Joan thanks Rob and presented him with a gift.
Next month’s guest speaker is former Ecklin resident Meredith McKinnon who owns La Bella Life which is a Home Care Provider based in Warrnambool
Our next meeting is on August 7, at 10am.
