PROBUS NOTES- New president
THE annual meeting of the Terang and District Probus club was held recently, with Don Treloar elected as the club’s newest president.

THE annual meeting of the Terang and District Probus club was held recently, with Don Treloar elected as the club’s newest president.
Gerdy McCormack takes over as secretary with Marg Connellan as incoming newsletter editor.
Frank Riordan is the new treasurer and Jean Lemke and Aileen Pekin take over the attendance portfolio.
Retiring office bearers included Jeanette Eller (secretary), Cheryl Ham (newsletter editor), Eric Hansford (treasurer), Marlene Quick and Thelma Miller (attendance) and Des McKinnon from president.
Guest speakers at the meeting were Sean and Shannon from Corrections Victoria where they are members of the Dog Squad.
The squad was introduced in 1980 to combat the rise in drug use and works in prisons, youth justice, courts, post sentence and as high security escorts sometimes interstate and overseas.
Shannon and her dog demonstrated a search for drugs that she had hidden in the room.
The dog walked and sniffed around the room and got very excited when he located the drugs. Joan Cain thanked Sean and Shannon and presented them with a gift.
Members have a visit to Ballarat Begonia s on Tuesday, March 14 and a trip to Poynton’s Nursery in Melbourne planned for May which includes a tram boat ride from Docklands.
Members also have a trip to Morning Melodies at Camperdown on April 1.
Coffee will be held for March/April birthdays at the Little Acorn on March 20.
Next meeting will be held on April 3 at 10am, where members will see a CPR demonstration.
