Rail trail remains closed
LOCALS will have to wait a little bit longer to access a popular section of the Camperdown-Timboon Rail Trail.

LOCALS will have to wait a little bit longer to access a popular section of the Camperdown-Timboon Rail Trail.
The section between Merretts Road and the Trestle Bridge was closed in early March due to concerns over the safety of three of the bridges on the trail.
It was hoped the temporary repairs would take three to four weeks to do, but a further three to four weeks is needed.
Camperdown-Timboon Rail Trail committee chair Pat Robertson said the closures were necessary.
“Work will commence on the temporary repairs on two of the bridges – bridge 13 and 14 – and hopefully will be completed within the next month,” she said.
“We’d like to thank DEECA (Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action) and Corangamite Shire for contributing towards the temporary repairs.
“We’ve got the funding to do the work to replace bridge 14 and 15.
“DEECA, Regional Development Victoria and Corangamite Shire have contributed along with the rail trail committee.”
Funding would still need to be secured to replace bridge 13.
Mrs Robertson said the section of the rail trial would be closed until the temporary works have been completed.
“We’re sorry for any inconvenience but for the safety of the users we had to take the action of closing the bridges,” she said.
“We’re looking forward to seeing the section open again.”
