Rain tally remains below average
BELOW average levels of rain continued across Terang and Mortlake throughout September.
The trend has seen six of the nine months of 2024 drier than average across both communities, with the long-term monthly average rainfall tally being reached only in January, April and July.
Throughout September, Terang experienced 77.6mm of rain slightly below the long-term monthly average of 80.2mm over the same period.
The highest daily rainfall occurred on September 2 when 13.4mm was recorded as storms lashed much of southern Victoria.
Despite the low result, the month did see more rain fall than the previous September when just 34.8mm of rain was recorded.
The total rainfall tally for 2024 now sits at 351.8mm for Terang.
Meanwhile, Mortlake too was drier than usual.
The 47.8mm result through September was below the long-term monthly average of 57.5mm, with the highest daily rainfall of 7.2mm being recorded on September 25.
The result was higher than the 28mm recorded in September 2023, and brings the total rainfall tally for Mortlake to 289.6mm
