Rainfall down in July

LOCAL waterways saw strong rainfall at the end of the month, but overall was below the long-term average.

LOCAL waterways saw strong rainfall at the end of the month, but overall was below the long-term average.

Camperdown recorded below average rainfall with a total of 74.5mm of rain hitting the ground for the month, slightly below the long-term average 86.9mm.

The highest daily rainfall was recorded on July 26, with 14mm falling, according to the Bureau of Meteorology records.

So far this year 397.7mm of rain has fallen over Camperdown, well down on the 506.3mm for the same period last year.

In Derrinallum the rainfall was lower with 50.4mm of rain hitting the ground. The long-term average is 64.5mm.

The highest daily rainfall was 10.6mm on July 18.

At the end of July, a total of 367.2mm has fallen over Derrinallum for the year, which was slightly lower than the figure recorded for the same time last year at 406.2mm.

Lismore was slightly drier than Derrinallum, with 40.4mm of rain falling, below the long-term average of 59mm.

The highest daily rainfall was experienced on July 27, with 6.4mm of rain falling.

For the first seven months of the year, 324.5mm of rain has hit the ground in Lismore compared to 407mm for the same time frame last year.
