Rams too strong

ROUND four proved a tough one for Lismore Derrinallum’s senior footballers, coming home from Dunkeld with a 90-point loss.
The second-placed Rams were too strong for the Demons, restricting their scoring opportunities and movements into the forward 50.
Demons coach Alec Wiltshire said while his side was still “a few weeks off full strength” that was no excuse for last weekend’s performance.
“We do still have a few soldiers on the sidelines but that’s no excuse; we just didn’t play up to our potential and full credit to the Rams, they’re a well-drilled side and they moved the ball well,” Wiltshire said.
“They were up for the contest all day; they have definitely improved since last season and we just played into their hands and bombed the footy all over the ground.
“But we’ll learn from that and move on. Hopefully we can get a couple of players back this week and turn it around.”
Final scores were Glenthompson Dunkeld 14.15.99 to Lismore Derrinallum 1.3.9.
Andrew Parkinson was the only goal scorer for the Demons, while Hayden Brett, William Beever, Bradly Ward, Josh Anderson, Jed Millard and James Halloran were named in the best.
The Demons’ reserves side had a better day out, continuing its undefeated record for season 2023, defeating the Rams 8.7.55 to 4.2.26.
The side now sits second on the league ladder, percentage behind leaders Woorndoo Mortlake and just a game ahead of Ararat.
Johno Benallack kicked two goals for the Demons while singles went to Kelly Brain, Steven Fisher, Jarrid Gilbert, Paul Hoder, Ryan Jeffrey and Timothy Turner.
Best for the side were Steven Fisher, Johno Benallack, Ned Uren, Ryan Jeffrey, Paul Hodder and Jarrid Gilbert.
