TERANG Mortlake footballers Annabelle Glossop and Sophie Curran have been selected in the Great Western Victoria Rebels under 18 squad.

The talented women showed natural ability with the footy during what was a lengthy selection process for the under 18 and under 16 squads.

In announcing its two sides, the GWV Rebels said the players were looking forward to competing in the upcoming Coates Talent League competition, due to commence on Saturday March 18.

The 2023 season looks set to be like no other.

The AFL has committed to boosting the resources available to girls’ pathway programs in Victoria and Tasmania to support the continued progression and growth of women’s football.

For the first time, all regional pathway programs participating in the Coates Talent League will have a dedicated full-time coach.

The program allows girls to be given a variety of opportunities both at NAB league, state championships and within the Australian Academy to further their knowledge and skills in the hope of one day playing at higher level such as AFLW.

“I have been really impressed with the girls’ commitment and attitude over the summer preseason,” under 18 coach Sally Riley said.

“They have put in the hard work and shown a real dedication to learning new skills and developing their football knowledge.

“We’re excited that our squad has finally come together and we look forward to starting the talent league in the coming months.”
