Rebranding to be more inclusive
WARRNAMBOOL and District Food Share, a leading nonprofit organisation dedicated to combating food insecurity, has announced a significant development in its journey.
WARRNAMBOOL and District Food Share, a leading nonprofit organisation dedicated to combating food insecurity, has announced a significant development in its journey.
As of August 25, the organisation has had a name change to Western District Food Share which reflects a commitment to serving the entire south west community.
The decision to change the name comes after careful consideration and in response to feedback from partners and stakeholders.
For more than 10 years, Western District Food Share has been a steadfast pillar of support for individuals and families in our community facing food insecurity.
Western District Food Share executive officer Amanda Hennessy said the rebranding will not alter the organisation’s core business – to provide emergency food relief to those in need.
“In 2022 alone, Western District Food Share distributed 164 tonnes of food, providing sustenance to over 55,000 people in our community,” she said.
“Our new name, Western District Food Share, articulates our determination to reach more individuals across our region who require assistance.
“Our dedication to addressing food insecurity and improving lives remains unchanged. We believe this rebranding will help us connect with a broader audience and strengthen our impact.”
Ms Hennessy said the success of Western District Food Share would not have been possible without the unwavering support of “our wonderful community members and valued partners”.
She said Western District Foodshare extends its heartfelt gratitude to each individual, organisation, and volunteer who has contributed to its mission of addressing food insecurity in the community.
“We want to take this time to express our sincere appreciation to the community, our partners and volunteers who have stood by us for 10 years,” Ms Hennessy said.
“Your generosity, collaboration, and unwavering support have been instrumental in our achievements.
“As we commence this new chapter as Western District Food Share, we look forward to continuing our collaboration to make an even greater difference together.”
As Western District Food Share, the organisation will continue to collaborate with local partners, agencies, schools’ volunteers, and donors to distribute emergency food efficiently and effectively.
The name change will be accompanied by a refreshed brand, including a new logo and updated website, which reflects the organisation’s inclusive approach.
“We want to assure our supporters that while our name is changing, our values, programs, and commitment to alleviating food insecurity in our community remain steadfast,” Ms Hennessy said.
Western District Food Share distributed 5.5 tonnes of emergency food relief to Corangamite Shire residents via agencies and schools in 2022. Agencies included the Terang Mortlake Health (Joise Black Centre), Camperdown Community House, Simpson and District Community Centre and CobdenTechnical School.
