Record fundraiser for St Colman’s
ST Colman’s Primary School’s annual raffle has broken records this year.

ST Colman’s Primary School’s annual raffle has broken records this year.
Raffle co-ordinator Jane Lee said the school sold 522 tickets and raised $9400 through the 2023 student raffle.
“The raffle was drawn at our trivia night last Friday, which was a great night seeing everyone having a wonderful time,” she said.
“We’re delighted to have sold so many tickets.
“Once again, we’ve received wonderful support from the people of Mortlake, Terang and Camperdown – and everywhere in between – to make this year another success.”
“We’ve had plenty of support from parents and staff, and our sponsors, so after three years it is something we will definitely be continuing again each year.”
Ms Lee said the funds raised would go towards purchasing new laptops to give students a boost in their education.
“Raising this kind of funding makes such an enormous difference,” she said.
“It enables us to keep our resources up to date and also provides a great sense of satisfaction and pride in the school.
“The fact we’re able to get out there and have the community involved in ensuring we have the best available resources for our kids is rewarding.”
The fundraiser was hailed a success due to the legwork students, with the support of their parents, put in to sell tickets around town.
Agricultural experts and truckers roaming around the Western Victoria Livestock Exchange, shoppers visiting Bates IGA and those stopping by Clarke’s Pies for lunch were eager to support the students braving the winter elements to sell tickets.
“There were a few opportunities for the students to sell tickets which went really well,” Ms Lee said.
“This year we introduced a roster so all students and parents had a turn selling tickets.
“It really helps the kids connect to what is going on, and feeling that they are making a contribution to their school.”
Ms Lee thanked Scotts Betta Home Living, Mortlake South Wind Farm developer Acciona and Bates IGA for again supporting the major prizes on offer.
This year’s major prize winners were:
• First prize – Dee Humphrey;
• Second prize – Gerard Delaney;
• Third prize – Kerrie Jewell.
