Regatta draws crowd

DESPITE the wet and cold conditions over the long weekend, a big crowd gathered at Lake Bullen Merri for the 61st annual Camperdown Easter Regatta.

DESPITE the wet and cold conditions over the long weekend, a big crowd gathered at Lake Bullen Merri for the 61st annual Camperdown Easter Regatta.

The annual Camperdown event once again attracted a strong field of competitors across various classes.

Cate McCoy and Jack O’Brien from the Royal Geelong Yacht Club showed their skills on the water to take out the first event of the weekend, the Allan Noone Memorial Race.

Winning skippers from the various classes were as follows:

Division one Fast Cats – 1st Luke Donovan, 2nd Tim O’Toole, 3rd Michael Jopp.

Division two Trailables – 1st Neville Stuckbery, 2nd Ian Lane, 3rd Liam Harper.

Division three Fireballs – 1st Brendan Garner, 2nd Myles Gavin, 3rd Heather MacFarlane.

Division four Fast Mono – 1st Guy Bancroft, 2nd Darrel Cairns, 3rd Don Allen.

Division five Slow Mono – 1st Ryan Blackstock, 2nd Bruce Armstrong, 3rd Glenda Allen.

Division six Junior – 1st Cate McCoy, 2nd Emma Williamson, 3rd Brodie Harper.
